Unified Backup: Our Approach

Our approach begins with discussing with you what value you want to assign to different types of data within your organization.  We then get an understanding of where that data originates from, and how it is stored, saved and moved. Your business units or departments decide the data’s value. We help you to utilize AIMstor for easy implementation of business policies to reflect that value.

A typical way of helping clients is by first setting up some level of electronic archive for critical files.  This would include a backup and archive of those particular files.  Taking this step is often the most sensible “first effort” to zero-in on the most important data, and how your organization handles and values data for the following reasons:

It is very straightforward and easy to implement, because of the high degree of automation within the software.

As each business department creates or modifies data, AIMstor classifies, manages and secures that data according to the business value.

AIMstor places appropriate “data tags” on each data element (files) and classifies them according to your predetermined value assignment. These data tags hold data classification, retention information, access controls and direct where the data is stored and how it’s protected.

Classified data is then used in policy creation to create an end-to-end data lifecycle data for protection and security.

Sound difficult? It’s not. Once classification policies are established, applying those policies to the data is a “drag n drop” activity.

You may decide that this is sufficient for your needs and this may be all that is needed. Or you may decide to utilize more services and capabilities that Restore Plc. offers.
