Ward Hadaway Case Study

The Challenge

“We had previously used various suppliers to destroy and recycle our confidential waste, but were looking for one company to shred the significant amounts of paper we produce. The team at Restore Datashred in Durham have been very responsive and reliable.”

The Solution

Due to the sensitive nature of much of the firm’s paper waste, it is destroyed on site in one of Restore Datashred’s mobile shredding trucks. Ward Hadaway operates from offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester and has a substantial client base of regional, national and international clients from both the private and public sectors. Since starting the contract with Restore Datashred in 2009, the firm has been impressed with the secure paper shredding services provided.

As well as offering an environmentally responsible disposal route for waste paper, Restore Datashred also provides a high level of security for data protection. Shredding all confidential paper on site improves Ward Hadaway’s compliance with the Data Protection Act and means that the firm is not open to fines of up to £500,000 from the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Each of the 20 confidential waste bins at their Newcastle site are locked, with an A4 sized slot for documents. The bins at this site and at their Leeds office, are emptied once a week with general recycling collected from Newcastle twice weekly.

Datashred’s depot manager in Durham said “Ward Hadaway approached us to look at managing their confidential waste disposal and office recycling. They wanted a secure and efficient solution. We offered a cost effective service, and following a visit by their facilities team to our local destruction centre in Durham, we are delighted to have Ward Hadaway on board.”

We initially chose Restore Datashred because of their competitive pricing and recycling capabilities. They not only collect and dispose of our confidential paper waste, but also our non-confidential paper, cans, bottles, cups, cardboard and WEEE.
