Living in a material world

Textile destruction is growing in popularity. We walk you through why, and how to go about it yourself.

Here are some of the reasons why:

· Boost your security

Impersonation – stop worn or obsolete uniforms/liveries falling into the wrong hands and prevent possible misrepresentation of your organisation.

Fake – counterfeit goods being passed off as yours damages your brand and all the hard work and investment you have made. If you recover fake items such as clothing, handbags and accessories, put them out of circulation for good through the process of textile destruction.

· Protect the environment

End-of-shelf-life – re-route end-of-line textile products from landfill to a shredder.

Sub-standard – below par items need to be removed from retail and destroyed.

Unsuitable – unfortunately, a certain proportion of the textiles donated to charities are torn, dirty or old and therefore not suitable for re-sale and secure destruction is a better option than sending them to landfill.

How Restore Datashred can help
We are serious about shredding. As professionals, we understand how important it is that you protect your brand, your business integrity and security, while reducing harm to the environment.

We are one of the UK’s market leaders in secure destruction. We have a nationwide network of 12 high capacity shredding centres, more than 200 collection and mobile shredding vehicles – including half a dozen of the super-fast ShredTech MDX3 trucks – and we currently securely destroy 20,000 tonnes of non-paper materials a year.

Your security, confidentiality and peace of mind are our priorities and our BS/EN-accredited systems and processes make certain that we meet your needs and expectations. Our operatives are helpful, well trained and security-checked; from collection to the shredding centre gates and on to the shredding blades, there is an unbroken chain of custody and CCTV footage to prove it; we promptly provide a certificate of destruction once a job is completed.

Our customers, including large charities and hospitals, trust our end-to-end service and security as well as our well-trained, helpful people, all of which contributes to our TrustPilot rating of ‘Excellent’.

How we can help you meet your environmental responsibilities
The beauty of textile destruction is two-fold:
1. The materials don’t end up in landfill
2.  The shredded textiles are baled and sent on, securely, for further processing so that they become refuse derived fuel (RDF). This means that the textile shreds can then be burnt to produce steam, which is converted into energy.

All of which goes a fair way in helping you meet your environmental responsibilities and is a strong message to pass back to your own customers and stakeholders.
