Meet the Team - Debbie Pugh

Welcome to our Meet the Team spot. Today we introduce you to Debbie Pugh, our Interim Managing Director. Get a flavour of Debbie as a person, find out what she does and learn about some of the responsibilities within her role.

As Managing Director (Interim) of Datashred, Debbie has overall responsibility for the performance of the business.  She has been with Datashred for 17 years and is passionate about delivering a great service to our customers. She is proud to have led the team through two consecutive successful Servicemark accreditations from the ICS (Institute of Customer Service).

In her spare time Debbie enjoys running, great food and spending time with her husband and children. She is a serial home improver and is currently studying interior design.

We asked Debbie a couple of questions that help us get the measure of her.

Restore Datashred: What led you to this career?
Debbie Pugh: It wasn’t a straightforward path – I wanted to be a novelist! I was fortunate enough to have a couple of good bosses who allowed me to channel my natural desire to improve things into my roles.  I created opportunities for myself along the way and here I am.

Restore DS: What motivates you to succeed?

DP: Since I was very young I have always wanted to be the best I can be and that’s what drives me forward.

Restore DS: What would your perfect day be?

DP: A sunny day on Porthminster beach in St Ives, Cornwall,  followed by dinner in the Porthmeor Café watching the sun go down (also St Ives).  There should definitely be a glass of Chablis in there somewhere!

Restore DS: If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something what would it be?

DP: That’s a tough question as there are many things I’d love to be expert at, but I think I would go for astrophysics.

Restore DS: What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?

DP: That can be challenging but I try to remind myself of what is going well – usually the vast majority of what we’re doing on a day to day basis is ticking along nicely but it’s easy to get derailed by a single thing.

Restore DS: What's the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

DP: Don’t ever stop feeding your mind – education should be a lifetime’s work.  My grandfather told me that.

Restore DS: Thanks, Debbie, for taking some time out of your busy day to answer our questions! It’s been great getting to know a little about what makes you tick.

Come back next week to get the inside story on another member of the Restore Datashred team – same time, same place!
