With many businesses being given the green light to re-open at the beginning of July, life will start to become more recognisable for many of us. We’ve already adjusted to politely queueing in the street for everything from a supermarket trip to a single-shot latte, and we’re doing well at trying to indicate a friendly smile with a face covering on. There are even official social distancing signs at each entrance to my local park.
Every indication seems to be that this new way of life will be with us for many months. At least.
The basic government advice about re-opening a business is to:
1) carry out a risk assessment
2) develop cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures
3) help people to work from home where possible
4) maintain 2 metre social distancing where possible
5) where 2 metres is not possible, manage the transmission risk
‘Managing the transmission risk’ can involve all sorts of inventive ideas, such as face coverings, installing hand sanitiser stations, reorganising floor layouts, erecting desk partitions and establishing one-way systems. A logistical headache for some and a chance for a complete re-think and overhaul for others.
Our online store has a range of social distancing products to help with your transition to a COVID-secure environment. Our signage and internal queueing systems can help with one way systems and keeping people at the correct distance from each other and our desk partitions and freestanding walling can enable teams to stay at existing work stations or provide protection in retail and hospitality settings. There is bound to be a level of anxiety to temper the relief as businesses start to open up again, but with the right planning and equipment in place we can gradually see businesses and retail open up again.
