Meet the ancestors

We’re putting our systems to the test, live at the RootsTech family history conference in London at the end of next week. Come and discover more about family members who served with the armed forces.

As you may remember from one of my September blogs, along with the MoD we are sponsoring RootsTech 2019. RootsTech is an annual family history conference that takes place at ExCel in London from 24-26 October.

The conference is for everyone interested in discovering and sharing family stories, with sessions covering every aspect of genealogy, such as: Finding British ancestors in India; Getting the best from online archive catalogues; Preserving and conserving research for the future; Rentals as a source for Irish family history. There are over 150 sessions to choose from, all grouped under the headings of DNA, Stories, Tools, Organising, Photos and Discovery.

In addition to the sessions there will be keynote speakers, for example Dan Snow (historian and TV personality) and Kadeena Cox (British Paralympic gold medallist), who will talk about their lives and experiences. The exhibition hall will also be a busy hive of exploration as exhibitors showcase their wares and give demonstrations. At Restore’s stand we will have our equipment set up so that members of the public, armed with appropriate documentation, can search the MoD’s confidential archives for details of family who have served in the armed forces. We will make it possible to search for their records and be handed a physical file to keep within just three hours.

Managing the preservation and conservation of information is the heart of our business. We have 70 facilities for active storage, fully equipped with temperature and humidity controls, fire suppressants and access control. While, for deep storage, we have our underground ultra-secure vault complete with cutting-edge air-handling, specialist racking and account managers who can tailor-make the space to your individual requirements.

If you need to securely archive records, whether for the statutory number of years or to keep them for future generations, speak to one of our friendly people on 0333 060 9158 and see how we can help with your archive storage.

And don’t forget to stop by and see us at RootsTech at the end of the month!
