VESDA - Protecting your documents
Many secure storage companies continue to use water sprinkler systems in their storage units, despite the fact that water is as damaging to paper files and documents as fire.
Restore understands that you need every reassurance that your important business records and documents are kept in the safest possible hands, and that's why we use VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) as an integral part of our risk management for client records.VESDA detectors are placed at key points throughout all of our storage facilities, providing the earliest possible warning of a fire event. The detectors are so sensitive, that they can detect smoke before it's even visible to the human eye.
Our VESDA units are situated at key points throughout all of our storage facilities and media vaults, and in the unlikely event of a fire, the system buys time to investigate an alarm and initiate a response to avoid any file or record damage.
Because VESDA has the industry’s widest sensitivity range and multi-level warnings, even minute levels of smoke can be detected before a fire has time to escalate.
How does VESDA work?
VESDA Air sampling smoke detectors work by :
- Continually drawing air into a pipe network attached to a detector unit. Passing the air through a dual stage filter to remove dirt
- Sending clean air to a laser detection chamber for smoke detection
- Processing the detector signal and presenting the smoke level graphically
- Communicating the information to the fire alarm control panel, a software management system or a building management system. Measuring the light scatter caused by any smoke
