Looking forward to 2022: Tim Ryder, Managing Director, Restore Harrow Green

When Covid-19 was first touching the shores of the UK in early 2020, who would of thought that we would still be navigating a path through it, or alongside it, two years later. The impact on individuals, families and the economy has been huge and not one person I know hasn’t been affected either personally, professionally or both.

As we head into another year, 2022 – it’s time to look positively forwards and to brighter things.

Throughout it all the Harrow Green teams continued to go above and beyond for our customers and each other and I’m proud to work alongside them. The work the teams have delivered means we have not only retained our position as the leading commercial relocation and storage business, but also that we start 2022 in a great place with our sights set on having a fantastic year through organic growth via our existing customers, new business and acquisitions in our marketplace to strengthen our services in all areas.

So, what is the focus for Harrow Green in 2022?

ESG – late in 2021 we launched our ESG strategy – Restoring Our World, this will lead us to becoming a net zero business by 2035 with an added commitment of reducing our scope 3 emissions by 50% before 2030. Our strategy has a strong focus on our people with wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and culture leading the way for 2022 and beyond – ensuring our teams are valued and have the opportunities to progress their careers within Harrow Green. You can read our full ESG Story here.

Electrification of our fleet – moving as many of our vehicles over to electric is essential for us to meet our 2030/35 targets. By the end of 2022, 15% of our vans will be AFV (alternative fuel vehicles). We work closely with our customers as our AFV vans can help them with their own ESG targets and we can allocate vehicles for our customers to ensure their moves are as environmentally friendly as possible. We are part of the EV100 showing our commitment in this area for our customers and our planet.

Co-working and return to office programmes – as businesses look to reconfigure and work differently, we have supported many new and existing customers in their new ways of working whether that’s at home, the office or both. We have been supporting our customers over the last 35 years in this area and can share great experience and knowledge in helping you make the right decisions for your business and colleagues.

Harrow Green Laboratory Services – this is a continued area of growth for us in 2022 and beyond as we further build our expert team from our new Cambridge base that is supporting our growing number of customers in this sector. 2022 will see us working with some of the biggest businesses in the life sciences sector.

Heritage Services – Our heritage division specialists are trained in the expert handling, packing, moving and storage of historic, rare and high value items using methods and equipment only reserved for the arts and archive sector including museums and libraries. Over the years we have moved priceless folios, artillery, ancient statues, mummies and even the Magna Carta and this is an area we are continuing to grow and develop in throughout the year.

Our customers are why we continue to strive to improve what we do and how we do it. Delivering a continually excellent service and giving them a seamless journey with Harrow Green is our top priority. Balancing the ever-changing landscape whilst giving a best-in-class service in person and through digitalisation of our channels is vital as we move through 2022.
