Sector: Private Sector

Restore Harrow Green developed a detailed project plan. We allocated a team of specialists who were experienced in handling complex relocations involving hazardous materials.

Our client, BAM Construction, was engaged in a project for King Edward VI School for Girls in Birmingham. BAM’s task was to
construct a new school on the existing site, demolish the old school and create a modern sports environment. As part of this significant redevelopment, Restore Harrow Green was brought in to manage the relocation of the school’s contents, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption to the school’s operations.

The project presented several key challenges. First, the relocation needed to be completed within a tight time frame, with the final move occurring over a weekend to ensure the new facility was ready for the students’ return the following week. This was a major logistical challenge given the volume of materials and chemicals that needed to be safely packed and transported. Additionally, the relocation involved the careful handling of hazardous materials, requiring specialised knowledge and equipment to ensure the safety of all involved.

Further, the project required us to clear two buildings scheduled
for demolition. Our team needed to ensure all clearance and recycling processes were completed on time, in line with both environmental and regulatory standards.

To tackle these challenges, Restore Harrow Green developed a detailed project plan. We allocated a team of specialists who were experienced in handling complex relocations involving hazardous materials.

Over the course of three days, our team carefully packed and transported the school’s chemicals, using specialised containers and procedures to comply with health and safety regulations. Once the chemical packing was completed, the team spent the next four days unpacking and organising the contents at the new school building. We also dedicated two days to relocating the items the school wished to retain from the old facility.

Adding to that, we also implemented a comprehensive recycling strategy as part of the building clearance process. Our team ensured that all recyclable materials, including furniture, fixtures and equipment, were responsibly handled and diverted from landfill. By adhering to stringent environmental guidelines, we maximised recycling and minimised waste, aligning with the sustainability goals of BAM Construction and the school.

To ensure a smooth transfer we organised a weekend move to
avoid any disruption to the students’ education. This stage was meticulously planned to ensure the new school was ready the following week when students returned.
