Storage, Distribution & Disposal at Queen Mary University

Client: Haier Biomedical
Sector: Life Sciences

Haier Biomedical leads biotechnological innovation, offering cutting-edge solutions for the Life Science sector. We design, manufacture and supply comprehensive cold storage solutions and advanced laboratory equipment such as microbiological safety cabinets, CO2 incubators and centrifuges.

As a trusted storage and distribution partner since 2021, Restore Harrow Green was tasked with ensuring the seamless execution of this complex logistics project at Queen Mary University.

Haier Biomedical, a leading provider of clean air cabinets, collaborated with Restore Harrow Green to successfully manage the delivery, installation, and removal of 64 biological safety cabinets at Queen Mary University of London. The project required precise coordination, specialist handling, and ethical disposal of old equipment to ensure minimal disruption to the university’s operations.

Haier Biomedical secured a project to deliver, install and commission Class II microbiological safety cabinets across multiple locations within Queen Mary University of London, while also removing and disposing of existing cabinets. Restore Harrow Green was responsible for managing the full logistics operation, from storage to final installation.

Key Project Elements:

  • Logistical Planning: A detailed schedule was established to ensure each cabinet was delivered and installed at the correct location at the specified time.
  • On-Site Coordination: The Restore Harrow Green team worked closely with Haier’s project manager and the university’s site team to oversee a smooth delivery and installation process.
  • Specialist Handling: Given the size, sensitivity, and value of the cabinets, specialist life science lifting equipment was utilised to carefully position each unit in its new home.
  • Adaptive Project Management: Last-minute changes required rapid adjustments, including reallocating cabinets to different locations within the university. Our agile approach ensured we adapted seamlessly to these changes without impacting the project timeline.
  • Storage and Inventory Management: Cabinets were initially shipped to our Cambridge facility, where they were securely stored until their scheduled delivery dates.
  • Ethical Disposal: In partnership with Wastecare, Restore Harrow Green ensured that the decommissioned cabinets were ethically and responsibly disposed of, aligning with sustainability best practices.

The project was successfully completed on time and within budget, with all 64 cabinets delivered, installed, and tested to meet the university’s specifications. Our expert logistics team, in collaboration with Haier Biomedical, ensured minimal disruption to research activities at Queen Mary University.

At Restore Harrow Green, we take pride in offering specialist relocation solutions for the life sciences sector, ensuring critical equipment is moved safely and efficiently.
