Charitable donation of laptops to Brigade Bar & Kitchen

At Restore Technology we believe charity and CSR is vital for a modern business to make a positive impact on society and the wider environment. Our business involves the daily handling of IT assets, which we may be erasing data from, disposing of or preparing for resale. From time to time we take ownership of some bulk IT assets which, whilst of significant value, could be better directed towards a charity.

Recently we were delighted to be able to help a fantastic social enterprise through the donation of 13 Lenovo Thinkpad laptops for use by their apprentices. Brigade Bar & Kitchen is a social enterprise bar, restaurant and venue based in central London. However Brigade is also the home for a range of programmes that Beyond Food runs with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. These programmes include Freshlife, Get Stuck In and the United Kitchen Apprenticeship.

The consecutive programmes aim to first get these people interested in food and the opportunities it can provide them, before giving them three weeks of kitchen experience. Next they complete six months in the kitchens at Brigade whilst working towards an RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework) Level 2 qualification, before finally completing a seven month work placement.

In the years since its 2011 inception, the enterprise has had an incredible impact on the lives of its apprentices, providing them with new skills along with increased confidence, motivation, and job readiness. Clearly this is a thriving enterprise with a real social impact, and as such, Restore Technology were very happy to provide a donation of laptops for use by their apprentices. The laptops will allow the apprentices to work towards their RQF qualifications on site, researching topics as required and completing their examinations. We are thrilled to have been able to help support Brigade and wish the very best for their current and future apprentices.
