Restore Introduces HVO Fuel to Reduce Carbon Emissions

We’ve taken a big step forward in our sustainability journey by introducing HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) as a cleaner fuel option. Our site in Thurrock is leading the charge as the first to install a HVO fuel tank with five vans running on HVO as part of a trial. This marks an exciting milestone in our efforts to transition toward more sustainable operations.

What is HVO?

HVO is a sustainable, high-quality alternative to diesel fuel, produced through the hydrotreatment of vegetable oils. With the potential to reduce carbon emissions by up to 90%, HVO is a powerful tool in the fight against climate change and part of our strategy to cut carbon emissions.

Going electric

Alongside HVO, we’ve made significant strides in adopting electric vehicles to further reduce emissions:

  • Company cars: All will be hybrid or fully electric by the end of 2025.
  • Electric vans: 24 are already in operation, with more set to arrive during 2025.
  • Charging infrastructure: Additional charging points are being installed at our sites to support the growing fleet.

Our goal is to expand the use of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, reducing our reliance on traditional fuels and further cutting our carbon output.

A Greener future

By embracing innovative solutions like HVO, we’re driving meaningful change and working toward a cleaner, greener future.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue our journey toward a more sustainable Restore.
