The customer
NHS Notify delivers large scale national communications programmes designed to support public health and improve citizen engagement. Working on behalf of NHS England, it plays a central role in ensuring individuals across the country receive timely and accurate information about essential services, including vaccination campaigns.

Seasonal vaccination campaigns remain critical to protecting vulnerable populations across England and Wales. While digital communications are issued first, a significant proportion of citizens either do not use electronic channels or do not engage with them.
For the Autumn Winter COVID 19 and Flu campaign, NHS Notify required a secure, high volume print and mail solution to ensure no individual was excluded from receiving vital vaccination information.
The programme required:
- Management of large volumes of sensitive data
- Cohort based communications across multiple age groups
- Reminder letters where required
- Multi language and accessible formats
- National distribution within strict timeframes
All of this needed to be delivered alongside business-as-usual operations.

We implemented a resilient, high capacity print and mail solution to support the national campaign.
Using secure production facilities across multiple UK sites, we received and processed NHS data at scale, transforming it into compliant and accurate communications. Our multi-site infrastructure provided built in contingency, enabling production to continue uninterrupted in the event of disruption.
Communications were issued in structured cohorts, beginning with Flu invitations for parents of two- to three-year-olds, followed by COVID 19 and Flu invitations for those aged 75 and over, then individuals aged 65 to 74. The campaign also included clinically vulnerable individuals aged 5 to 64 and children aged 5 to 15.
Where digital communications were undelivered or unread, print letters were automatically triggered to maintain continuity. Reminder letters were also issued to maximise uptake.
Accessibility was central to delivery. Letters included key information translated into 23 languages, with fully translated versions available for selected cohorts. Large Print formats were provided in line with Accessible Information Standard requirements.

The campaign ensured nationwide coverage, supporting millions of citizens with timely vaccination information during a critical seasonal period.
Our scalable infrastructure enabled the delivery of 5,913,930 letters between October and December 2024, while maintaining operational resilience and data security throughout.
