Abdel is a Sales Executive at a Restore Technology sister company, Ultratec. Along with his colleagues, he works closely with re-sale channels such as e-commerce websites, retailers and distributors who specialise in refurbished electronics. Abdel is the sales conduit between suppliers and customers and the wide-ranging export market. We asked him to tell us some more about his job, for a taste of the various activities Restore Technology and her sister companies are involved in.

What are the aims of your role?
My main objective as a Sales Executive, of course, is to generate revenue and, with a target-oriented role like mine, I’m always setting out to exceed those targets. Revenue comes from market analysis, product promotion, expanding our customer base, building and maintaining customer relationships, and working closely with my team colleagues and other departments. I believe teamwork is the key to success.
What do you have to consider each day to get your job done?
1) Inventory management: stock level and quality control.
2) Pricing strategy: setting prices that are competitive with other sellers of refurbished IT assets.
3) Customer service and support.
How do you support excellent customer service?
I stay in regular touch with my customers, placing them at the centre of what I do, and ask for feedback from them.
Tell us a little about a challenge you’ve overcome while doing your job.
When large orders are cancelled at the last minute, the first step is to communicate with the customer to understand their reasons and try to solve the problem. Next, it’s crucial to explore alternative solutions to fill the gap left by the cancelled order by contacting existing customers and prospects to find a new buyer within a short timeframe. The key is to stay composed, assess the situation calmly, and take proactive steps to mitigate the impact – and learn how to avoid falling into a similar situation again!
What steps is the business taking to operate as sustainably as possible?
I am working on reducing my carbon footprint by using video conferencing and virtual meetings, for example, and the business encourages us to work remotely, which further reduces emissions. I also actively seek to partner with suppliers and vendors who prioritise sustainability in their operations.
Anything exciting coming up?
There’s nothing special on the horizon, although working in sales means there’s plenty to keep me on my toes. The constant need for quick thinking to overcome objections and close deals makes the job interesting and rewarding. The satisfaction of successfully meeting sales targets, building relationships with customers, and contributing to the growth of the business is exciting for me.
