This Data Privacy Day don’t forget to include secure document and paper shredding on your To Do list!

Masterminding a £1m fraud
In the news recently was the story of two men sentenced to jail in the UK for masterminding a £1m fraud, which involved intercepting bank letters and using the information contained in them to steal money from people’s bank accounts, either online, or by impersonating them over the phone or in person. That may seem extreme, it IS extreme, but it reveals how much personal data is contained in a paper document. Enough to help create plausible impersonations and contacts with bank staff, for instance.

Data Privacy Day Tuesday, 28 January
The theme this year is ‘Put Privacy First’. That being the case, we’d like to invite you to think about what you do to control and manage all the personal information that you handle at your business or organisation, both during its lifecycle and when it comes to disposal.
Is it secret? Is it safe?
Do you have lockable bins and cabinets, or sealed under-desk boxes, in which to store obsolete paper documents? How about a regular, discreet, security-verified collection so that there are no overflowing bins, no breaches in confidentiality? Can you guarantee that to your employees and your customers? That their personal information is safe with you?
If you’d like to make a fresh start with ensuring your data’s secure destruction in 2025, why not give Restore Datashred a look?
