National Shred Day 2026

National Shred Day 2026 Free Shredding Drop Off at Five Restore Datashred Depots

On Friday 2 October 2026, Restore Datashred is taking part in National Shred Day by offering new and prospective customers a free drop-off service for confidential paper and hard drives at five participating depots.

The offer is available for one day only and is drop-off only. Customers can bring a maximum of 20 bags of paper or five hard drives to one of the participating locations listed below.

What is National Shred Day

National Shred Day is a timely reminder that confidential information needs to be managed securely throughout its lifecycle. Paper records, archived files and old hard drives can continue to contain personal, financial or commercially sensitive information after they are no longer needed.

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) highlights the importance of using quality information destruction suppliers and secure destruction processes. You can learn more about the BSIA Information Destruction section, or view the Restore Datashred listing on the BSIA website.

How to take part

  • Visit one of the five participating Restore Datashred depots on Friday 2 October 2026.
  • Bring up to 20 bags of paper or a maximum of five hard drives for secure destruction.
  • Remember that this is a drop-off-only offer. Restore Datashred collections are not available as part of National Shred Day.
  • The free offer is for new and prospective customers only. Existing contracted customers should continue to use their normal paid service.
  • Hard drives are subject to the participating depot’s safety and acceptance controls. Do not bring damaged, unsafe or contaminated items.

Why secure destruction matters

Throwing confidential documents into a general waste bin or leaving old hard drives in storage can create avoidable security risks. A controlled destruction process helps organisations dispose of information responsibly and gives teams a clear route for clearing material that is no longer required.

Whether you are clearing archived paperwork, reviewing old records or preparing redundant equipment for disposal, secure destruction should form part of your information management process.

Have a larger requirement

The National Shred Day offer is limited to the published quantities and drop-off arrangement. If you need a collection, have more than the limits above or want to discuss regular secure shredding, contact Restore Datashred for a free, no-obligation quote. Our team can recommend a suitable one-off or ongoing service for your requirements.
