Each year prospective candidates from around the world approach their examinations, some with trepidation and others excitement. The exam represents the culmination of their invested effort, the weeks, months or years of learning, and the results from the exam are a representation of that effort.
Long partnership
Restore has worked in partnership with RM Results for over ten years, digitising paper exam scripts for marking, with RM Results co-ordinating and delivering an internationally recognised e-marking solution.
Together we provide, for examination awarding bodies, a full end to end solution for the digital marking of exam scripts for students from the UK and Ireland and around the world that is worthy of this effort.
Exam scripts are transported securely by courier directly from the examination centres and awarding bodies to one of our many Restore scanning sites, strategically located in the UK and in well-chosen international locations. Our site in Athlone, Ireland and a further site in the United States were established for the sole delivery of successful high volume, high speed exam scanning.
Operating to strict performance measures and timelines, designed to optimise performance, enables examiners to receive, identify, mark and annotate the exams in time for the hard deadline of results day. Utilising RM’s online marking technology, awarding bodies can leverage the ability for examiners to work remotely to build a vast, geographically diverse, network of examiners.
Project Innovation
To support the management of many hundreds of thousands of crucially important exam papers, Restore has developed ExamTrak, our dedicated internal software which supports the high-volume scanning of exam scripts. This bespoke software solution allows us to identify exactly where each individual exam script is at any time.
When handling and processing such critical documents, it is imperative that complete auditability is available. Catering for all awarding bodies, ExamTrak allows us to cater for the unique and specific requirements for each exam and each component of exam.
It reflects the various complex stages of our production flow and the exam papers’ journey from start to finish. During the scanning lifecycle, an exam paper will undergo several stages from booking-in (individual packet reconciliation, receipt notification and barcoding), Assignment, Preparation, Cutting and Scanning. From here each script is managed in accordance to the precise instructions of the awarding body, which may include further data capture, data processing and delivery.
Certifiable
Certified to BS 10008 our quality assured process means all documents we scan are admissible documents, providing the complete peace of mind that our images will be a direct replicate of the original. At Restore we apply high-speed scanning and barcode capture, using our fleet of IBML scanners. Once scanned, the image and barcode data are collated and delivered to RM, who in turn facilitate the service with the specific awarding body.
